Pleasant Hill Hawks Baseball Where Kids Play Hard, Have Fun and Learn Teamwork

For more than 25 years, the Pleasant Hill Baseball Association Hawks baseball program has provided an educational, developmental and competitive environment where boys ages 9-14 play a higher level of baseball. The Hawks play within the 680 Diablo PONY baseball league and numerous tournaments. Our community-based program gives boys the opportunity to play a competitive brand of baseball, while fostering an environment of good sportsmanship and teamwork.

Hawks 2021

The Hawks would like to thank everyone for trying out for the 2021 spring season! We had excellent turnout for tryouts and tough decisions to make. Nearly 160 players tried out this season and that is the largest number in memory. We would like to congratulate the kids that made teams. We also want to encourage those that did not to keep playing baseball and keep working hard! Perseverance pays off!

Rosters are listed under the "Teams" tab.

Hawks 14U Coaching Staff
The Pleasant Hill Hawks are pleased to announce the 14u Hawks coaching staff for the 2021 season!
Larry Boyce – Larry brings nearly 20 seasons of coaching experience to the Hawks and even coached teams that competed against the Hawks. He has coached baseball, football, and soccer. Larry last played baseball with the Castro Valley Royals. He won a CIF section championship in high school and pitched two no hitters! Larry works for PG&E and lives in Martinez. Larry has two sons, Tyler and Alex, with his wife Tami. We are excited to have Larry on board and look forward to his contribution to the Hawks!
Vern Taylor – Vern brings over 20 years of coaching experience to the Hawks. Vern has coached both baseball and basketball. Vern played baseball his entire childhood and ended his playing career playing junior college baseball. Vern and his wife, Gretchen, have four children, Lauren, Logan, Heidi, and Rance. This is more of a reunion for Vern, as his son Logan played 3 years for the Hawks. Vern resides in Concord and is the Principal of Tabernacle School in Concord. Welcome back to the Hawks family, Vern!
Johnny Marriccini – Johnny has been coaching baseball in Northern California for over 20 years. He’s coached at the college level at Los Medanos and DVC, at high school level at De La Salle, and at the pre-high school level with the San Ramon Slammers and Nor Cal Bandits. Johnny also played baseball his entire youth and was a star player for De La Salle. Johnny will be splitting his coaching time this year between DVC baseball and the 14u Hawks. Johnny and his wife, Debbie, have two daughters, Nicholette and Savannah. Johnny works for the Contra Costa Water District and resides in Pleasant Hill.
Each of the coaches have a passion for baseball and the desire to give back to the community. The Hawks are lucky to have great baseball guys working with our kids as they prepare for high school. Please join us in welcoming Larry, Vern, and Johnny to the Hawks family!
